2011 Hope Calendar Charity – Gwendolyn Strong Foundation!
April 28, 2010The Hope Calendar has chosen it’s 2011 beneficiary …
THE GWENDOLYN STRONG FOUNDATION
Please join us in supporting this great organization and it’s fight against SMA by participating in Life’s Images 4th annual Hope Calendar project – we’ll be sending out info on Facebook, Hope Calendar page, and Cause Page for kids to be photographed for the calendar, sponsors to support us, and the calendar will be ready to hang on your walls in November!
WHY WE CHOSE THIS CHARITY:
The Gwendolyn Strong Foundation (GSF) seeks to raise awareness about and fund research for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), the leading genetic killer of young children, and support those impacted by SMA and other life-altering diseases.
- SMA is the #1 genetic killer of young children.
- SMA is estimated to occur in nearly 1 out of every 6,000 births.
- There is currently no treatment and no cure, but the National Institutes of Health (NIH) selected SMA as the disease closest to treatment of more than 600 neurological disorders.
- Researchers estimate that a viable treatment and/or cure is attainable in as little as 5 years – IF provided adequate resources (and this is where we hope to make a small contribution!)
